Accommodations
Welcome to Starseed Ranch
A secluded sanctuary along the Kohala Coast.
Our 26-acre off-grid estate, powered by hydro-electric and solar systems, is surrounded by lush gardens, rolling hills, and unique Balinese-style architecture. With modern comforts, group spaces, and a tropical orchard, Starseed offers a rejuvenating and immersive experience filled with mana, and in harmony with nature—a perfect setting for your next adventure.
Regenerative Farm, Garden and Orchards
We grow a wide variety of vegetables, tropical fruits, Hawaiian canoe crops, medicinal plants and herbs, and encourage all guests to explore the farm and taste food harvested from the land!
If you are interested in learning more about Regenerative Agriculture & Permaculture check out our Farm Tours and Farm to Table Dinners. Combine these with an overnight Farm Stay for an immersive Starseed Ranch experience.
Outdoor Kitchen and Dining Area
The Starseed Kitchen is a central gathering spot on the ranch, located close to lodging and other buildings. It features an open-air design with timber-framed walkways and tropical gardens. Built using reclaimed materials like hardwood, bamboo, and woven hala mat, the kitchen has a unique octagonal shape with custom woodwork and awning windows that open into the dining area.
The kitchen is equipped with stainless steel appliances, including a 6-burner Viking stove, double refrigerator, and dishwasher, along with two sinks and a central hardwood island. Cabinets hold all essential cookware, and the connected dining area has a large round table that seats up to 15, offering garden views. The space is communal for guest use and can also host events with private chefs or catering services.
Yoga and Movement Studio
Lovingly referred to as the “Chi Deck”, this space is one of the most beautiful on the property and is often used for meditation, yoga and movement practice. The hardwood floors and inset rock wall give the space a cozy and earthy feeling. Lots of windows and sliding glass doors fill the room with natural light. The 30′ x 6′ covered lanai overlooks the gulch and stream below, making the building feel as though it is floating in the trees.
You can open up the screened sliding doors to hear the stream rushing by and feel gentle breezes blowing in from the ocean. This room is multi-purpose and can be used for classroom space, ceremony, performances and other group gatherings. Overnight guests are welcome to use the space for practice when there is not an event or class in session.
Meditation Spaces and Walking Paths
Starseed is located in the Niuli’i ahupua’a, a remote part of the Northern tip of Hawai’i island. Surrounded by powerful ocean, steep cliffs, lush jungle, fertile agriculture, and rushing streams, it’s the perfect place to reconnect with the land and center yourself in nature.
The property offers several spaces for guests to meditate and reflect, including our Spirit Hut, the Chi Deck, and many paths throughout our orchards, gardens and farm.

We are Dash and Erika Kuhr, and we have been blessed to call North Kohala home for over a decade, where we raise our family and run HIP Agriculture, a nonprofit farm dedicated to food sovereignty and resilience.
Starseed Ranch holds a special place in our hearts, as we were married here in 2011 and have returned often to reconnect with this sacred land. Originally built by Kenny Loggins as a Y2K bunker, this 26-acre off-grid sanctuary, powered by hydro-electric and solar systems, is now a thriving center for sustainability and education.
The property’s rich history, from its unique architecture to its lush orchards and gardens, continues to inspire us as we steward the land and welcome others to experience its beauty. We are honored to carry forward the legacy of healing and learning envisioned by Andre and Jyoti, and we look forward to hosting you at Starseed Ranch
